new things

I like the weather today. I took an extra-long lunch, hit the road on the motorcycle, and ran by Bills Records before the Friday crowd. Then I took the long way home. I need to go shopping or something like it but I just hate shopping really. Unfortunately, I need a set of boxers for a “boxers and bandana” party on Saturday. I’ll have a drive up to OKC for the evening.

I need another 15,000 words for the book. I want at least a respectable 50,000 words. It needs more “story” for sure but the story has faded. I don’t think it’s writer’s block. I am just tired of the story. I have so many more things I want to say. I want to try out a different writing style and to experiment with screenplays.

I am going to let someone else read it this week. Hopefully, they will have some honest feedback and that might help me along. So far, I have only let Melly read a draft but that was 20,000 words ago when it still looked like a short story.

Something else I thought of today…maybe I can’t finish anything, maybe that’s my real problem.

THE SUN WAS SHINING BRIGHT.
WE WERE TWIRLING ROUND AND ROUND IN CIRCLES
CATCHING DROPS ON OUR TOUNGES
YOU SAID, ‘I DIDN’T KNOW IT COULD RAIN FROM THE SUN.’
I SAID, ‘EVERYONE CRIES FROM TIME TO TIME, WE’RE NOT THE ONLY ONES.’

YOUR LIPS WERE SO TENDER WHEN I KISSED THE DROPS AWAY
GOD I LOVE HOW WE PLAY.
I LOVE THE MEMORIES WE MAKE.
