I played my first professional gig this weekend. If you can call being bought a beer as payment, then it was me going pro. I stepped up to the microphone, harp in hand and blew out the notes to harmonize with your voice and your guitar. I will always be thankful for this opportunity that you gave me to play, to get up in front of a crowd, to hear their approval, to be thanked by members in an audience. I’ll be thankful in ways you’ll never understand for it’s not for the joy of performing like most would feel but for the gift of finally knowing what it’s like to make music on a stage in front of people. Though I may never do it ever again, I am happy for it truly was one of those lifetime moments.
…remember the time I played my harmonica with you at that sheik little nightclub in dallas…
