It’s been one too many nights
I’ve spent alone reminding myself
You might be gone, but I’m still here.
But every now and then
I still remember when
I saw the daylight in your eyes
And felt nighttime in your arms.
I’m not dead yet.
And I know I’ve got more lessons to learn,
But what makes you think you can cross
The bridge you chose to burn?
I’ve got no reason to listen.
Even though you always say too much,
You still find more to say—
But what does any of it matter anyway?
Except every now and then
I still remember when
I saw the daylight in your eyes
And felt nighttime in your arms.
Maybe today’s just a bad day.
Maybe I’ll change my mind tomorrow.
These days misery hides sorrow.
Though every now and then
I still remember when
I saw the daylight in your eyes
And felt nighttime in your arms.
Just remember—
It’s a long and winding road
To get back to the place we’ve already been
And to believe I could believe in you again.
